Fourth CALM Workshop, 2–4 November 2022

CALM – the PhD Training Collaboration in the Contemporary History of Global Europe jointly organized by the University of Cambridge and LMU Munich – held its concluding workshop with its second cohort of PhD students. Fourteen PhD students (seven from each university) and four more senior scholars met at LMU Munich to discuss new approaches to contemporary European history from a transnational perspective.

The key part of the workshop were the four panel sessions set up to provide the participants with a platform to present and discuss their ongoing research. The format of discussing precirculated papers provided time for a lively and productive exchange on each paper.

Furthermore, the workshop included two career counselling sessions provided by the senior scholars focusing on publishing strategies in the British and German academic system as well as the post-doctoral phase. The participants look forward to continuing their collaboration beyond CALM.
