Project:

German-French Reconciliation and European Integration in the Perspective of the Federal Republic of Germany: 1949-1963

German-French reconciliation is widely acknowledged as the cornerstone and engine of early European integration. However, this view suggests an underestimation of the contribution of early European integration to German-French reconciliation. This project will analyze the perceptions of the Federal German government, political parties and public opinion on German-French reconciliation and European integration in the period of 1949-1963. On this basis, this project will examine the interaction between German-French reconciliation and early European integration, aiming to enrich the understanding of their relationship.
